Vera and Ayva played their first soccer game of their second season and something unexpected happened… IT CLICKED!!! And they loved it!!! I saw the love of soccer grow deep in both of them today and they just got the game! It was an exciting moment for me as I love soccer and I grew up playing soccer. To put it in their terms… soccer was my life!!!! Seeing them play brought back a lot of great memories. Soccer was where I built a lot of confidence, where I learned competition and sportsmanship need to coexist, where I learned how to make friends, where I learned life lessons I had no idea I was learning, and where I learned to give my best and push past my best constantly! So watching them just score and soar today was really heartwarming and exciting!!! I was able to talk with them after and I asked them what my parents always asked me… “did you give your best today?!” To which they said YES, and then I said what my dad always said back… “then you should be proud!!” ⚽️🥅🫶🏼 there was a moment where each of them congratulated the other with high fives and positive words and my heart could have exploded!!! Then there were moments of serious competition with each other even to the point of pushing, and I saw where I can help them understand better. There were moments of chasing down the ball no matter if their own team had it, and moments of trailing right behind their players in case they miss stepped and lost the ball. I saw them pushing through hard moments, and not giving up, and it was amazing. All these things got me excited for the learning and growth to come ♥️ and I saw their humility as they listened to my words of teaching. Sports are a great place for deep learning, and I’m so grateful 1. That my parents gave me the gift of soccer, and helped me learn and grow there! 2. That my girls have this opportunity to learn and grow and love soccer too ⚽️🥅 #parenthood #motherhood #twinmom #soccermom
