These fall hikes and waterfalls in Lake County, Minnesota on the North Shore of Lake Superior 🥰🧡🍁!! ‍ Lake County has some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery on the North Shore 💯! You know Lake County for treasures like Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, and Tettegouche State Park. ‍ There are so many phenomenal hiking trails and waterfalls to explore this fall (or anytime of year)! Over the next few weeks we’ll be running a series some of the best ones for you, including more details on the ones in this highlight video. ‍ In this video: ‍ 🐺Wolf Rock: Find this spectacular view of the forest and Lake Superior along the Superior Hiking Trail. It’s just .5 miles from the Castle Danger Trailhead. ‍ 5️⃣Fifth Falls: Hike one mile upstream from Gooseberry Falls to get to a bridge crossing over the falls. It’s a nice 2 mile loop within Gooseberry Falls State Park. ‍ 🌊Split Rock River Falls This is another quick one - just a half-mile from the trailhead at the Split Rock River Wayside. Take it out-and-back or follow the 5-mile loop for a longer hike. ‍ 🍂Illgen Falls: This out and back hike is another quick one. Take Lake County Highway 1 1.6 miles to a barely noticeable pull off where you can park. The trail is marked with a small State Park sign. It’s along the Baptism River in Tettegouche State Park. ‍ ✨Palisade Head: Perhaps the most famous cliff-top view of Lake Superior is at Palisade Head. Carefully explore the top of the 200-foot cliff for endless views! It’s within Tettegouche State Park, but the entrance is about 1.5 miles southwest of the main visitor center. ‍ 👉Lovin Lake County has an awesome website that has resources for exploring this area.
