This is about as correct as saying the sky is red. This bombing campaign is low on tonnage by historical standards by 2-4 orders of magnitude. It’s kind of wild that people base their opinions on the matter on things that are so factually wrong

R to @rmcwhorter99: Ah, this seems plausible: software is a backdoor the smart and capable use to enter dead fields. It will cannibalize much of those fields and maybe that creates room to rebuild

R to @knrd_z: Yeah there are reasons to be skeptical. I do see the startup model eating the world as the best way out. Re the distribution - look at defense. Slowly, software is eating that too, and talent is flowing back into that once stagnant field

R to @rmcwhorter99: An important part of it, and it does seem to be doing its job, but I'm not terribly optimistic about software. Part of the reason it seems this way is because it absorbs so much talent that in a less perverse system would be distributed more widely
