RT by @pharris_tyler: Former $GOOGL Manager who worked there from 2015-2022 shares his view on Google Shopping and the industry landscape: 1. The advantage of Google Shopping is Reach and having the power of the Search platform behind it. 2. When the expert left, there was a big push of advertisers onto Performance Max. With Performance Max, you just set your advertising goals, and $GOOGL uses its own ML to find you the best channel for your ad campaign for the whole $GOOGL network. 3. In terms of shopping, the biggest competitor is $AMZN. In the expert’s opinion, more shopping discovery happens on $AMZN than on Google Search. $AMZN also knows your purchase history, behavior, etc. $AMZN logistics and Prime are another big advantage for them as many US customers do not do any Google Searches anymore for products but go straight to $AMZN because of the integrated ecosystem. 4. While the expert was there, the growth rate for $GOOGL shopping was double digits. Now he thinks it’s flat. 5. The expert shares his view on default browsers. He thinks that if you are talking about desktops, the amount of people switching their browsers is higher. Whereas if you are talking about mobile, people tend to stick more with the default options, particularly on iOS.

We had 9% U.S. consumer spending, 6% growth on Goods & Services, 13% growth on T&E, and that continues to be very strong off a high base. And from an international perspective, we've seen 15% spending from an international card services perspective and strong both from a Goods & Services and a T&E perspective. And I think it's important that I'll remind everybody our card base is a really small piece of the overall U.S. economy. And one of the reasons we have such great credit metrics is we have a really high-quality card member."

What you need to know: ► Speed of Foundry development is significantly improving. ► Databricks is the closest competitor but misses permission flows and the ontology concept. ► Momentum building: from 8-10 engineers for one client; by the time he left to 2 engineers per client. ► Manufacturing is the best vertical. Finance not taking off apart from compliance. ► Growth was not strong due to long sales cycles (now solved with AIP Bootcamps + partnerships!) ► Palantir "is a platform way ahead of anything else in the market, and that there is a moat."
