RT by @arturferreira: Back in July, after building Veertly for 3+ years, I restarted my build journey by creating QuickActions, a plugin for @crisp_im Here are my takeaways on how I got inspired and how I went back to building mode: - You can only connect the dots by looking backward I got inspired when I read Steve Job's quote in @JhumanJ's article about his story on building NoteForms. This made me revisit all my building experiences and start connecting the dots. - Embrace randomness in your life As @dvassallo states, the business world is full of randomness. One should create mechanisms in their life to let serendipity in and get sparks of inspiration. - Keep an open notebook always at hand Whenever an idea or observation comes to mind, note it down right away. I can't count the number of ideas I've lost by not noting them immediately. - Engage with stories from others, relate them to your own experiences, and find inspiration for new ideas For the particular case of Quick Actions, the inspiration came by connecting the story of how Julien created his Crisp plugin and my previous experience as a Crisp user. - Building plugins enhance your visibility in platform marketplaces! With plugins, you can leverage existing products in your go-to-market. This helped me reach quickly to my target audience quickly and have hundreds of users. This was even more when the Crisp team promoted my plugin in their monthly update, so don't forget to create relationships in that process. - Have product-market fit, onboarding, and monetization in mind from the get-go Keep a balance between optimizing and speed, but always target these goals. I neglected some of these aspects in the beginning, so it's now time to revisit and improve them. These are only my main takeaways.
