R to @bcjordan: - Chases were a lot of fun. Art chases. The "destroy all the pixels you briefly are caring about" dastardly deed is hilariously low-stakes yet carries high indignation (like a "Nice save!" in a Rocket League casual match from your teammate) - When playing chase, tron/snake like sort of avoider mechanics could work, it was fun to try to find the right pathway to avoid. Bomberman captured a bit of that realtime escape feeling - adding physics objects like line rider / tension-bridge / angry birds-y stuff could enable some fun play (just realtime versions of those may deserve their own experiments). Conversely - these multiplayer games with solely dynamic Sand/CA would be fun and interseting in new ways as well (kind of like Scorched Earth / howitzer games) - Had multiple people bring up playable giant sand worm, it did feel a bit like you are one when waving paintbrush around when it is big. - A simple Line rider on top could be fun to try. In a way Water covers some of that use case. - On that note, Altitude/Trials/Rocket-League-y 2D physics vehicles in the mix could be fun, though hard to visualize how the drawing would be related to the vehicle-playing. Maybe getting a simple version in to bat around could show the interplay some more. It's interesting to think about what might be a thing people would want to build as a community project while lost in the sand. So far I've seen cool art, physics experiments, iterating on the tool itself. Adding some code into the mix could enable learning about shaders/realtime-physics-y sorta stuff. But how could the goofing build something collectively (along lines of github/wikipedia collective contributions). Enabling music/sounds within it could add a lot, sort of creating a cohesive awesome place to be in briefly. But yeah basically it's sand

R to @bcjordan: Interesting things - PVP drawing is a lot of fun. At one point there was combat between a repeat-wiper and people trying to draw anything recognizable for long enough to hold on to hope lol - It is interesting to see the size of the compressed board representation go up as the entropy increases (more drawing). The compressibility % could be an interesting metric to do something with, eg as score or something happens to the board at a certain complexity 😆. I like the idea of capturing or transforming the board state and resetting periodically, so could be interesting to have that be a trigger vs like a timer. - handwritten feature specs for "water" and "density - sand > water" on the board was fun 😆 - shift+scrolling to control dot size + doing nested circles is really cool, can make lots of doodles quickly just riding the scroll wheel + swapping colors. I want to expose on mobile in some way but torn between buttons, slider, pinch to resize
