R to @LitmapsApp: Be amazing if you produced a static endpoint with the search or a json of the parameters to put in a SI section of the paper.

Great question, Jem! Does anyone in the community have a recommendation on how best to site research tools (like Litmaps)? That citation looks great to us 👍 If you wanted to be super precise, you could mention which tool you used too (Seed vs Discover) & any filters used.

RT by @LitmapsApp: We got some great feedback on our webinar last week - so here' s brief recap of what we covered! Simple workflow using Litmaps for literature review: 1. Find a starting paper. Maybe your advisor or colleague hands you a paper. Maybe you're diving into a new topic and found a great review paper using Google Scholar. Whatever it is - we recommend you come in with this starting paper already in hand. Like any algorithm, the output (new, recommended papers) is only as good as your input (starting paper). 2. Make a Seed Map Go to the Litmaps app, go to Seed Maps, and punch in this paper's title or DOI to quickly find it and make a Seed Map from it. Click through the most relevant papers on the visualisation or side-bar. For each one you find relevant, add it to a new Collection, based on your topic. 3. Go to your new Collection Go to "Your Library" in the side bar and review the Collection you just built. It might have only a handful of papers in it - and that's just fine. All we need to do now is click "Related Articles" at the top. 4. Discover even more papers from your Collection "Related Articles" takes you to Discover. This is where we really start to dive into the literature. Run the Discover Search and then look through all the recommended papers - which are based on ALL your inputted papers. This is the best way to discover seminal works, historic research and new trends. Same as step 2, add any relevant papers to your ever-growing collection. 5. Make a Map At this point, you could have anywhere from a few to a few dozen papers. If you're looking at a growing mountain of papers, you'll likely want to pinpoint which papers to start reading first. For this, go to your Collection ("Your Library") and click "View as a Map". 6. Prioritise your papers Now, we've gotten to one of the most fundamental contributions of Litmaps: literature maps. These visualise all your papers in one spot, displaying all their connections and relationships. You can easily sort or reorganise based on different characteristics, to decide what to read. For example, set the y-axis to "Map Relevance" and look at the top-most papers. These are the most inter-connected papers and an excellent place to start when diving into your Collection. It's not too late to request a Webinar recording! We covered even more than this in our 1 hour webinar last week. Just reach out to us to get a recording sent to your inbox, as well as other resources to help optimise your literature discovery workflow.

@LitmapsApp Any guidelines for citing your app in a manuscript? eg. "Snowball search was performed... using an online network mapping tool (app.litmaps com, Litmaps Ltd, Wellington, New Zealand)."

R to @JReynoldsMLIS: Try it out and let us know what you think! Our algorithm works by ranking the most inter-connected papers. It's not AI, and nor is it something you can do by hand (without taking months). The idea is to discover similar papers and quickly get into new topics. Best of luck!

R to @LTlearnr: Scite can give you a list of supporting or contrasting papers to a single paper. I think this is what you're after. Just try it out
