R to @bio_bootloader: Cool. There legit were near zero interest options t one time. But in reality, the finance company is getting the profit from somewhere, else they'd go bankrupt, thus the "costs" of the finance are somewhere in the industry/deal which is in the consumers payments.

R to @_TechyBen: Artificially high price with "free" finance. The price 10-20% more than cash price at other stores. The stores with finance, just didn't offer cash/non-contract purchases, so hid the fact it wasn't "free" finance.

R to @_TechyBen: It's not possible for the financing to cost lest than the cash price, unless the cash price is artificially inflated, and a discount (to the cash price) invisibly applied to make the financing look "less". As said, mobile phones use to be done this way in the UK...

R to @cronokirby: They pad the financing because it returns more profit. Thus it costs more to the consumer. It's impossible to have it both ways, thus cash is "cheaper", though it might be hidden or they use some method to stop it being apparent.

R to @Duderichy: Wait till they realise there is a 10% discount for cash purchases so that rate is really 10.9% (I've no idea if this is true, it's how they use to do the mobile phones payments in the UK till the industry was regulated for lending practices)
