RT by @BoomVermeer: Our entry for the @runwayml GEN:48 AI short film contest is in a pool of entries by the world's best AI filmmakers. If you want to see the state of the art of AI filmmaking, then you need to follow this contest. So, I don't expect to win... I didn't even think to enter the contest until @faderjoes invited me, as a storyteller and AI artist dabbling in AI video generation for my poetry. But he did, and I accepted, and I have to be honest, I am really, really proud of our submission. It comes from our hearts and we put everything we had into it (as did all the teams). As a storyteller, AI is an unprecedented tool, and I've been loving it since I minted my first AI art storytelling collection in June 2021, with actual AI animation--age progression portrait animations created frame by frame in @Artbreeder. As dark as the future looks for humanity and earth, I believe in hope, and I believe in telling stories of not just hope, but of practical solutions, so we and our children and our children's children have a rope to hang onto and breadcrumbs through the dark forest. As long as there are people willing to love, to take risks for a better world, to battle the demons in our hearts, and as long as there are people who truly believe in the possibility of a better future, then anything is possible. Nothing is truly foretold. It's all just stories. It's so easy to drown in despair, and maybe there are some groups and people who want to drag us down, but there are people who are here to lift us up, to give us life. That's why I'm a storyteller, and that's why I'm proud of my first AI short film, which is about hope in the darkness, and about how we bring back the light. I'm also really, really excited for it to not be my last. I knew I liked AI filmmaking and animation for my storytelling, but I realized this weekend how much I love it and I can't wait to create more. And I hope to create more with my friends. This collaboration with my longtime friend in this space, @faderjoes, was one of the best experiences of my year (and that's saying A LOT, because I was diving with sharks and giant sea turtles in the Caribbean and I visited Chichen Itza this year!). Collaboration and connection is the KEY to the future, and if you're reading this, then there is a 100% chance I would love to collaborate with you (because we must be friends if you've read this far!! For real). So here's to a better world that we build together, starting with a new story 🥂
