Clinical experience was my first priority when I went back to school in my mid-twenties and started from scratch. As a career changer, I didn’t have a strong science background so I decided to be a part-time student and ease into premed classes. Tbh, I didn’t know much about medicine and felt really behind when I’d hear other premeds in my class talk about all the things they’ve done. I spent my days off getting certified as a CNA so I could care for patients, which came at the cost of my holiday breaks and summers. 🏥 Working in a hospital allowed me to gain a solid foundation in clinical competencies like patient care, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology. 💊 If you don’t have clinical hours yet, the best thing you can do is get certified as a CNA or MA to strengthen your med school application. In-person certification programs that work with your schedule can be hard to find. @advancedclinicaltraining is super convenient and has nationally accredited online medical certifications that are self-paced.
