The final straw… 👉🏼 a photo from daycare. I can picture it so vivid in my head. In fact I still have it saved on my phone, because for me it’ll always be a memory I never got to have. I had just finished a meeting about students who were struggling, and the meeting was HEATED. No one was agreeing on a plan of action — teachers begging for support, bending over backwards for students, getting awful emails from parents, and no support from administration. If you’re a teacher, that probably sounds familiar. The bell rang & the meeting ended, again without a solution or resolution - just a “do your best and support your students” I was frustrated beyond measures + then I felt a BZZZZZ. The picture was slow to download in my brick wall classroom, but it finally finished downloading as my students flooded back into the classroom. It was a picture of my 2 month old smiling bigger than ever. Something I really only got to see on weekends, because we all know witching hour in the evenings leaves no trace of a giggle. It was in that moment that my heart shattered. The frustrations of the classroom were no longer worth missing my newborns milestones. She only got to grow up once, and I was missing it. My heart just wasn’t in it anymore. I gave myself 3 months to figure out something else. 3 months to put my head down, change more mamas lives, help them get healthy, and grow another stream of income. And by year end, I put in my resignation + haven’t looked back.
