4 years ago, I had a wake-up call about my lifestyle. Like everyone else, I was wrapped up in that hustle culture, busy all the time, always rushing and persuing the next goal. But something deep happened back then in my life that made me realize that I was always running after the next accomplishment in order to be content instead of living fully the moment and finding joy in the present. Living in the future can be very harmful in many ways - it's fuel for anxiety, stress, and panic, for instance. I've learned, then, to contemplate the present moment and to be appreciative of what I have. My heart and intuiton led me to a new concept (at least, back then, new for me) - the slow living movement. So I immersed myself in nature, spent hours walking in the woods, swimming in lakes, contemplating sunsets and the phases of the moon, observing how nature operates and how healing being in nature can be for us. I finally concluded that we are not only nature ourselves (and so we're killing ourselves while we're destroying other species) but also that the source of all our diseases (physical, spiritual and mental) comes from the fact that we're disconnected from nature (which means we're disconnected from ourselves, once we're also nature). Even though I'd like to get deeper into this subject, I'm not going to prolong myself because I could go on hours talking about it. Yesterday, though, after 3 years of batteling anxiety, I've realized that I got caught up in that hustle culture again, and thatforgot how slow living is the best path for our endurement as species, along with other concepts like (self-)sustainability, minimalism, bioconstruction, environmental protection, etc. I know it isn't easy to swim against the current, especially because many of us are still in survival mode. But make sure you learn new ways of living, follow what truly matters for you, and find room in your life to get immersed in what you love and where your heart is.
