#SAGAFTRA ON STRIKE 🪧 Thought I was having a baby sooner but he refuses to come out until the AMPTP comes to the table with a fair deal. SAG-AFTRA joins the WGA on the picket line as greedy studios refuse to negotiate FAIR PAY for the entertainers who make them their money. As a working actor, I have seen and felt personally how increasingly difficult it becomes year after year to make a living at what we do. A big part of this is how few streaming residuals are shared with the artists. The projects I have been most recognized for are not necessarily the ones that I have made the most money on. There is an ever present myth that if you can be recognized on TV, you must be rich. With the way payment models are now, that can’t be farther from the truth. Some actors are able to find financial success, and some, even if they are on hit shows, still barely struggle to get by. Without negotiating a new deal, a fair deal, it will become virtually impossible to make a living as an actor. Another thing we’re fighting for is protection against AI. Right now the AMPTP wants to pay background actors for ONE DAY of work and then use their image as much as they like in perpetuity (FOREVER). This is absolutely rotten!! I stand in solidarity with my union and the WGA for FAIR PAY and FAIR PROTECTIONS so acting can continue to be a viable career!! #sagaftrastrong #1u
