I started doing the Firefighter Challenge 4 years ago, and I have spent the last 2 years making excuses why my times haven’t gotten better on the course. 2 weeks ago during a training session I realized that I wasn’t really believing in myself, a problem a lot of us have whether we want to admit it or not. Too many times we speak down on ourselves, and it becomes a habit. It’s great to be honest with yourself for the sake of improvement and changes that need to be made to better yourself, but learning the difference between being honest and self-limiting behavior is absolutely imperative. I may not be the best, or the most talented, but I’ll never be outworked, you owe it to yourself to be the best version of you, whatever it is that you’re choosing to do. It’s crazy to think that so many people simply exist without actually living, without reaching their full potential, without learning what their body is capable of. Break away from the crowd. Have the courage to be different and step out of your comfort zone, that’s where a lot of lessons are learned. Live fearlessly, be intentional with your actions. You’re going to get talked about.
