My sister Fabi recently launched „Cornelia Street“, an online boutique for carefully selected and individually designed modern Oushak rugs made from sheep’s wool. The rugs are produced by experienced craftsmen in India, and the manufacturing includes more than ten work steps: design, choosing the colors, spinning and dyeing the wool, making a scale rug map, weaving, washing, sunbathing, stretching, cutting, edging and mending. She recently visited the craftsmen and documented her trip on her account, definitely go and check it out! What I especially love is that you can customize any of the rugs (colors, size) or even ask my sister to develop a completely new design. The rug you see here in my kitchen is our hausanderlinde x corneliastreet collaboration and it is called „Alma“. I am completely obsessed, and no, it was not meant to go in the kitchen (and not yet sure if it will stay), but I just love how it blends right in and it feels so nice for the feet with the rug under the table. While these types of rugs are very easy to maintain and to clean, it will probably still stress me out too much with my three small kids. Initially I wanted to place it somewhere else anyways - so let’s see…I would love it in all of the rooms actually!
