Very rare and endangered chip board .. This beast is becoming quite the joy to work on, after my daughters work experience at a mates recording studio fell short due to the bass player falling off the roof and hitting his head on a concrete mixer. ( don’t ask ) .. i was however shocked it was the bass player and not the drummer. She was stuck with me in the workshop and a plan was conjured up incorporating some leftover osb board from our bedroom renovation and an off cut used on a table for her 16th birthday. An education for her incorporating modern design techniques and voodoo with an everyday product to build a functional stringed instrument was devised, as well as a tribute to the fallen bass player. A lesson for all luthiers that you don’t alway need fancy timber to build something neat, functional and sonically pleasing. No stings yet but I have that feeling in my pants already it’s going to sound rad.
