Last night i suited up for the last time. I decided to retire from the game. For the past 24 years I’ve dedicated my life to this game. But at some point in time we have to take the cleats off. I just thought it would be a little different. I was always afraid that if I didn’t make it to my end goal of being a big leaguer that I failed, that I let my family and friends down. I thought this because I made my identity “a baseball player.” In January of 2021 I married my beautiful wife. Later that year I had my first daughter, Harlow. Having a family puts in perspective what is really important in life. THEY ARE. My wife has sacrificed so much for me to continue to play this game and I can’t thank her enough for that. She’s taught me how to be a better person each and every day and her support is something I will never take for granted. My family changed my mindset from a baseball player first. I am a husband, a father, a son, and a friend and I’m looking forward to striving to be the best damn one I can be each and everyday. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, my parents, my family, friends, coaches, host families, and anyone else who have been a part of this journey. Without you guys this would not have been possible. #GVO✌🏼
