There are rare moments in life that truly overwhelm me, and I take immense pride in maintaining composure during my work. However, as the light began to fade and it was time to let the Temminck's Pangolin be on its way, an unexpected surge of emotions washed over me, and tears welled up in my eyes. I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and wonder at the privilege of witnessing such a magnificently unique creature—a sight I never thought I would have the opportunity to behold. Given its status as the most trafficked mammal on the black market, with all eight species of Pangolin in Africa and Asia facing the looming threat of extinction, this encounter felt even more extraordinary. Watching this gentle and docile animal as it diligently searched for ants and termites to sustain itself left me in complete awe. However, alongside this awe, I couldn't help but feel a profound disbelief at the cruel actions inflicted upon these defenceless creatures. In that poignant moment, as I bid farewell to the Temminck's Pangolin, a deep sense of responsibility washed over me. I became even more determined to raise awareness about the plight of these remarkable beings and to work tirelessly towards their protection.
