The knife community is wicked cool. 6 years ago vs. today- the first time I met @goldschmidt_knives was at his shop here in Tuscany 6 years ago, I had stumbled across his instagram randomly while I was on the way to Italy with my family, and after arranging a meet, we hung around and forged some integral chefs knives together that day. Since then Oliver has become one of my biggest inspirations in knifemaking, he thinks differently about lines and flow than any other person I’ve met, and my technique of fitting integral bolsters came from him (I think he invented it but I’m not certain). The second photo is from today, my last day in Italy and Oliver has that knife I forged 6 years ago, I don’t know what my knives would look like know without his influence, but they would almost certainly be more boring. I’m extremely grateful to Oliver for hosting me again, he has a wonderful family, community, and life, and its amazing to get to be here to experience it. Im now heading to South Africa to visit with some other great friends of mine for a few weeks to learn some new skills and experience a new culture with @henningwilkinson and @blackdragonforge Oh and there’s a video of the anvil castle on the way and it’s gonna be incredible. #bladesmith #handmade #blacksmith #tuscany #italy #damascus #chefsknife #art
