⁣ The Niki Charitable Art Foundation celebrates the life of Yvonne Robinson, fellow artist, curator, and great friend of Niki de Saint Phalle.⁣ ⁣ Yvonne Knapp (ńee Robinson) was an important figure in the art world for most of her life.⁣ She was a curator who started her career at a young age, first working at the Courtauld Institute of Art and then helping organize the Festival of Britain with the Arts Council in 1950.⁣ ⁣ Robinson continued her career working at the Hanover Gallery until it closed in 1973. She then moved on to Gimpel Fils Gallery in London, where she remained until her retirement. ⁣ ⁣ During her long standing and established career, Robinson met many artists, among them Niki de Saint Phalle. Yvonne and Niki had years of friendship together starting with the Hanover Gallery in London and continuing to Gimpel Fils.⁣ ⁣ In her later years Robinson became Saint Phalle’s assistant, someone to organize her paperwork.⁣ ⁣ “…Niki announced she was looking for someone to sort out her papers. I was nearly 70, so I said I was interested. She said, come next week… So I went to Paris, to Soisy and lots of trunks appeared from the attic. It was a 3-year job.
