A Once In A Lifetime Experience while hiking in Florida! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ One evening, I was out hiking in an area where I know the elusive Bobcats like to hang out. I’ve been here many times, most of the time not seeing anything, but i keep coming back. I have had a few lucky encounters with these beautiful cats, but little did I know what I was in store for! I hit a crossroads where I could see down 4 paths and I happily spotted a Bobcat walking down one path coming toward me. As he got closer, I stepped to the side to let him pass and so he did not get spooked. Once he went by me and I slowly creeped behind him, hoping to get a good shot. He stayed along the grass line in “hunting mode”. He was not bothered by me and I was able to catch up to him and follow closely behind him, only about 15 ft away! He was dipping in and out of the grass looking for dinner, this was already a really cool experience, But… Then he did something I don’t think will ever happen again…he stopped and decided to lay down in the grass just in front of me. He look a little break from hunting and just relaxed and allowed me to walk around him getting pictures! It was so cool that he felt that comfortable around me. (And no I did not have food with me) Then he got up and continued his hunt. Even though he was unsuccessful, it was amazing to watch him take huge leaps into the grass, hoping to pounce on an unsuspecting victim. He eventually dove in the bushes and never came back out but he for sure left me speechless and with some amazing pictures. I can still remember the smile on my face after witnessing and being apart of such an amazing experience. The mile+ walk back to the car in the dark with mosquitos biting me was the best walk ever. I doubt this will ever happen to me again but I hope everyone has a cool animal encounter once in their life, you won’t forget it!
