I was going to wait and get some proper photos, but I couldn't, so here it is in my kitchen! What started as a wild idea to create the perfect vintage bop kit became a reality in a few weeks and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! These late 60s, mahogany shells from Beverley were sourced by Jakub at @moredrums .I sent a message out to pretty much every vintage drum enthusiast in the country with what I was looking for to recieve a massive amount of "Good Luck" messages. These sizes are super rare and Jakub found me some in a week! Then the big job! The kit needed holes filling, shells wrapping and bearing edges cutting. The obvious choice is to take them to Carl at @addrums / @thatprintplaceltd Carl has been a friend in the industry since I was still a little metal kid and I couldn't have been happier trusting him to make this right! The wrap is inspired by a very rare Roger's red wine ripple and the original silk wraps you'd find on 60s British drums. I saw this in person for the first time yesterday and the wrap is absolutely insane. Carl has done a better job than I could ever have imagined, taking on these old shells! The rest of the kit was up to me to source and clean up. I swapped the original thin triple flange hoops for era correct diecast hoops. All the tension rods swapped back to the original slotted heads and two cracked bass drum lugs replaced. Floor tom and bass drum leg mounts were upgraded to @Inde_drum suspension mounts. The original blue B badges were pretty scratched up, and I wasn't liking the look of the blue against the pink. So after some thought, I decided on the script style badges from the 60s Beverley 21 snare drums and in the end decided to 3D print them. The white stands out really well and adds to the look and vibe for sure!
