Here are 10 of my top things to know for your next trip to Osaka, Japan 🐙 1. Take the subway - Subways and trains are the easiest ways to get around Osaka. Buy an ICOCA card for cashless travel. 2. Try the local street food - Try regional specialties like takoyaki (octopus balls), okonomiyaki (savoury pancakes), and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). 3. Explore local hoods - On top of visiting popular attractions, also consider venturing to lesser-known neighbourhoods like Shinsekai and Tenjinbashi-suji. 4. Learn some Osaka-ben – Learning some of Kansai area’s distinctive dialect can help you break the ice with some of the locals. 5. Take day trips – Nara is a short train ride from Osaka and famous for its friendly deer in Nara Park, and the ancient Todai-ji Temple housing a giant Buddha statue. 6. Experience Dotonbori at night – Visit the eclectic Dotonbori district after dark to see Osaka come alive with colourful neon signs and night time street food. 7. Stay central – Find a hotel in central neighbourhoods like Namba, Umeda, or Shinsaibashi to be closest to the main shops, restaurants and bars. 8. Take an onsen – Osaka might not feel like the most traditional part of Japan but there are still many public sento baths dotted around the city. 9.
