Where it all started. I decided to repoint this little wash house in our garden last summer. It was my first repointing project after a lot of research. Although it was hard work I decided I might repoint parts of the house this summer, as it was all previously repointed in cement. This is not breathable for old stone walls, and it looked a mess. Little did I know or plan, but I am on the home run of completely repointing the entire outside of the cottage entirely by myself. (Not gloating, it’s just such a massive achievement for me) I started back in February and have been working most weekends since. I knew it would be a long hard summer, but I wanted to get all the messy work out of the way. Every part I complete is a massive win and I am so proud of what I’ve achieved. That said it’s been a learning curve. It takes a lot of skill. I’ve made mistakes and I have definitely improved from doing this wash house, to a standard I am really happy with now. I have learned by reading, here and on supplier websites & watching videos. The lovely folk at @cornish_lime where I’ve been buying the lime have been so helpful. I would highly recommend one of their courses if you are hoping to take on a project, and can make it there. If not other suppliers do offer courses too. Well it’s a day of pottering and resting for me today. Yesterday I finished repointing the outside of the utility and I’m beaming with how it’s looking.
