Blessings for Lammas/Lughnasadh Link in bio for new episode with meditation for the First Harvest. https://keepingherkeys.com/podcast The liminal time between seasons is always a crossroads, where Hekate abides. Her close companion, Demeter, for me is prominent at this time of the year. That great goddess of agriculture, civilization, mother of Persephone, etc. Demeter reminds that we need to harvest, that we can't just let things grow wild because there will be fallow times in our lives and if we don't take heed and prepare for them, then we will be sorry indeed. Demeter is often very challenging when she comes to us because she calls us to accountability and responsibility. She also brings the energy of speaking out to correct wrongs. When Persephone was so violated in the mythology, Demeter spoke up. She took her torch and she went on this quest raging about what had been done to her daughter. Lugh himself spoke out about his talents, which is very in keeping with the energy of Leo in the Sun. What do we need to really speak out against as a roaring lion? To correct wrongs that have been done to us personally or in the world. There was a lot to this time of the year in the traditional Celtic regions. Connected to Bridget in some areas, and The Cailleach. When they would finish the harvesting, there was an effigy or offering to The Cailleach. Bridget coming with her plenty. The Cailleach reminding that winter is coming, when we'll be eating stone soup if we don't prepare better. I love the Celtic stories, and as a family we do a meal and so on connecting to our Celtic side. Lammas refers to a sort of bread ceremony, symbolic of this festival, and I usually bake some sort.
