Remember that @fannybor and I made a documentary about periods?! I think it’s time to try to explain why nothing has been made public and why the film hasn’t been seen by well, anyone. Our vision for the film was to create a conversation to lift the voices of women and to educate and inspire openness around the menstrual cycle. We started working on it in late 2021 and finished up in April of 2023. It was a beautiful and busy 18 months of deep diving into everything surrounding menstrual cycles, gender equity in sports (and life) and hearing the most touching stories from women all around the world. At the end, for reasons we still don’t understand but have slowly come to accept, the company that was funding our project made a decision not to release it. We were patient and we did absolutely everything we could to find solutions, to fight for it, to stand up for ourselves. It’s strange how we made a film that - at its core - was about exactly what happened to us. Our voices, stories, wisdom and vision were hushed and made quiet. It broke our hearts not being able to share the beauty and honesty of the stories we worked on. We honour every single woman and man who gave us their time, vulnerability and energy. We are a small team of 5 women working on this and we are still doing everything we can to find solutions for our work to go out into the world.
