Our cycling community has suffered a devastating loss. Bruce Elliott, Don’s Bikes Race team captain, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle on a training ride in Menton on Saturday, July 29. According to CHP, Mr. Elliott was struck by a Chevrolet SUV on SR-38 and Garnet Street in Mentone at approximately 9:35 a.m. He was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and pronounced deceased at 10:21 a.m. The crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. His teammates from Don’s Bike Race Team will ride in the Tour de Big Bear on Saturday, August 5, in memory of their fallen captain. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of the Redlands Memorial Chapel. Please click on the link in our bio to support Bruce Elliott’s legacy on Spotfund.
