𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙢 𝙍𝙮𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙣 ••• (𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘪 𝘹 𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘮) ••• <<<<⚡️ 𝑪𝑼𝑳𝑻𝑼𝑹𝑨𝑳 𝑪𝑼𝑬𝑺 ⚡️>>>> ☀️ Bright- filtered light 💧 Frequently watered during the brighter, warmer months with a slightly drier Winter 🌡️ Intermediate- Hot 🪴 Can be grown in relatively small plastic pots with a very free-draining yet water-retentive orchid media ________________________________ 📝 This is a great example where the sum (of the hybrid) is truly greater than the parts ••• Even though these species are definitely closely related, there are a few very distinct differences that become obvious after growing both species over the years ••• 𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙢 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙞 can be a slow grower that is reluctant to bloom and when it does, can have many flowers but tend to be crowded on spikes that seem they could use a few more inches to stretch out. That said, the flowers are very attractive with intensely twisted petals and rich color ••• If you cropped to a single bloom of each species, you may notice that the other parent, 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙪𝙢, has blooms which are similar overall but a bit more drab in color, having similar twisting to the petals (albeit not as strong) and an almost identical dorsal petal ••• Once you pan away, the differences become more obvious with 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙪𝙢 having an almost vertical flower spike and blooms held in a disciplined position. The flower count is also smaller with typically 2-3 blooms per spike vs 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙞 with 3-5 ••• 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙪𝙢 grows strong and will bloom relatively small on its first mature growth and from that point, flowers like clock work each summer ••• Add all of this up and you get the best of both worlds 🌍 𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙢 𝙍𝙮𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙣 doesn’t disappoint.
