Happy Thursday! It’s been a busy week between both jobs, I’ve barely slept, and I’ve felt like I’ve barely been home. So, new topic: completeness as a trans woman. There are so many ways we as trans women complete our transition. Do we get bottom surgery? Does that make us done? Or is breast augmentation it? Do we finish with FFS/VFS? What categorizes us as “done”? I thought after my orchiectomy, I would wake up and feel complete. I won’t lie when I say the first thought I had when I woke up was “we’re not done yet.” I’ve never told anyone that. Not my sisters, not my wife, not even Her. I knew it was part one of a 2 part series. I also knew I couldn’t afford to take the required 6-8 weeks off for recovery from GRS. I still can’t. If I get that surgery, it could very well bankrupt me. What about breast augmentation? Well… I’m not sure what the future holds exactly. I know I’ve grown a lot of my own breast tissue, so I’m not flat, but I’ve wanted larger breasts, literally since I was 9 years old. Who knows what’ll happen there? I’ve been full time just nearly 4 years. I’ve had a hell of a ride. I’ve had a lot of success with very little setback. I’ve met so many people who’ve become my friends. Regained friendship with pre-transition, friends, and salvaged friendships where I didn’t think I could. Where I’m currently in my life is not what I had planned last year, but I’d like to think I’ve taken enough lemons, and made something resembling lemonade out of everything that’s been thrown at me in the last 10 months. I’m focused on me now. You taught me that. I can’t depend on anyone to lean on and catch me but me. And I work without a safety net.
