ad 7 unique UNESCO sites in Germany 🇩🇪 Surprising is probably the word I’d use most here! 😅 I’ve just spent a week in Germany exploring some of the lesser known UNESCO World Heritage sites by train and I did not expect to learn so much and to find all these beautiful pockets of nature and culture! 🥹 🏡 Goslar Altstadt - A quaint picturesque town in the heart of the Harz mountains boasting with over 1500 half timbered houses. Easy to reach by train from Hamburg or Hannover and easily one of the most beautiful places in Germany ⛏️ Rammelsberg Mine - We took the mine train 550 metres into the mountain and learnt that the mine was active for over 3000 years! Entry fee to do the train tour is €18 and you can take the World Heritage shuttle from Goslar Altstadt directly to the mine ⚓ Hamburg Speicherstadt & Kontorhaus District - Easy to reach via the ‘Landungsbrücken’ overground station in Hamburg, best combined with a ‘Fischbrötchen’ by the harbour and totally free to visit 🏭 Völklinger Hütte - The most surprising site on this list! I’d totally come back here and you can get an entry ticket from €17 👞 Fagus Werk - Where Bauhaus style architecture and German shoe tradition were born.
