This past long weekend we celebrated @coastlongboarding’s birthday with the return of the Urban Assault! A gruelling test of mental and physical skate abilities, this event is not for cowards. Starting at the top of Cypress Mountain at 4:20am and across town ending at Kits Beach. The rules are simple - don’t get caught by the cops, get to the finish first. Over the years we have now add a ‘Supreme Leader of the Mountain’ to encourage some competition to be the fastest down Cypress, see if your legs can handle the burn! This year we had some event veterans and some noobs, which made for a great competition. @shaiskates surprised everyone and in her first ever Urban Assault and first descent down Cypresss she was first down the mountain and thus she is Supreme Leader. Big congrats to Shai!! Overall results saw @karson.leigh take first place, and an overall time of approx 53 minutes. @ssssidorchuk fumbled down Cypress, but recovered to push into 2nd place. @chasethrills came in 8mins behind the leader for a strong 3rd place finish despite taking Cypress more casual than most. @shaiskates was 4th overall. And last, but definitely not the least, how can you not love this mans, @cody_yardwaste represented for all of @yardwaste and was only 15mins off the leader. It was really anyones to take. Big thanks to @chasethrills, @coastoutlawseries, @teamzzaaa and @karson.leigh for keeping the stoke alive for this event. It’s a Flatspot favorite and we definitely can’t wait until 2024.
