Born in Madrid and now based in Chicago, his multifaceted practice maps the interplay between nature and human-made systems, charting how these forces constantly reshape our world. Take for instance 'The Black Forest' (pic. 2), a striking installation that translates a thousand-year-old Japanese technique of charring pine, Shou Sugi-Ban, into a contemporary critique of our relationship with nature. Similar innovative methodologies are applied when he teams up with atmospheric scientists to transform storm data into mesmerizing cloud sculptures (pic. 1), echoing the ceaseless dynamism of our environment.
