I adored reading Banyan Moon by Thao Thai (@thao_writes), and by the looks of it in the newsletter comments, on social media, etc., it looks like many of you did, too. Many dog-eared pages and underlined passages punctuate my copy. I’m a sucker for beautiful prose, POV chapters, and immigrant stories, and this jewel of a debut novel had it all. There’s a lot to dig into about this book along the themes of mother-daughter relationships, inheritance, immigrant culture, reliving past lives (hello, the weirdness of returning to our hometowns!), keeping secrets, absent father figures, and so much more.
