“Hey Ms. Shabtai, we got the results of your biopsy, I am so sorry you have breast cancer. We don’t know anything but in three days you’ll be meeting your oncologist and get some answers”. I was shocked. I was crushed. I was so confused looking at Brave (then she was 10 months old) not knowing if I will live for her if I’ll see her growing, maybe she won’t have me? Her mother? Being pregnant not knowing if I will be able to have my child? I was devastated. How I will tell Gee? How I will tell my parents, siblings, friends? I don’t want to hurt them like that…my thoughts went to every single direction. Yes… I know… it is shocking to who ever knows me, or following me. You would never know right? A huge thing to think about… It took me a long time to share this situation with some of my friends and with the world. I didn’t want to share it with no one and if I knew I wouldn’t NEED help and a very strong support system dealing with cancer, pregnant, and a baby at home I wouldn’t tell anyone.
