“People (& dogs) of Toronto from the hip” 8.11.2023 Toronto, Canada ••••• Shooting from the hip on the street is a practice I rarely engage in these days, but every now & then I like to give it a whirl, especially when I am on tour in different cities— it’s a good chance to practice zone focusing, something that (to be frank) I totally suck at. I used to shoot from the hip a lot more when I started out, just walking around wildly pressing the shutter button a zillion times at every person that walked by & hoping for the best. I’m much more restrained now, my eye a bit more developed (plus my favorite shots are ones where I actually actually get to talk to the subject a bit & learn about their life.)
