“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are, and change the ending.” - unknown I saw this on LinkedIn this morning and it rang in my head all day. I can’t change how I began certain things in my life, no matter how hard I want to. I started this year off with so much pain and anger and sadness, mostly toward myself. I spent months obsessing over why a particular series of events happened a certain way. Looking back, I wish I could tell myself from last year that she was about to weather a crazy storm- that her life was about to be flipped over and that she was about to experience hurt unlike none she’s ever felt. And to be honest? It still hurts, every now and then. I still get the nights in bed where I clutch my stuffed unicorn and cry, asking why, asking what I did wrong. But now I know it was for the best, and I didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just how my true beginning started. Hi, I’m Carly. I’m a woman with a particular experience. I lived 35 years as a cishet male, with the stereotypical life. Four years ago, I decided to change that up, and I decided to live authentically as the person I’ve always been inside.
