O CAMINHO PELO MAR Povo do mar, os polinésios aprenderam a direcionar seus barcos, os vakas, seguindo sinais. Provavelmente foram os primeiros a utilizar as estrelas para se localizar no oceano. sabiam interpretar o voo de aves migratórias, a formação das ondas e até a cor das nuvens, cujos tons refletiam a areia ou a vegetação de uma ilha atrás do horizonte. Também observaram as correntes e os ventos. Usavam uma espécie de mapa com registros de marés e correntes nos quais as ilhas eram representadas por conchas. Os mapas marítimos permitiam a eles navegar até locais longínquos pelo oceano. E assim seguimos com as nossas canoas, explorando novas terras, novos mares. They were probably the first to use the stars to locate themselves in the ocean. They knew how to interpret the flight of migratory birds, the formation of waves and even the color of the clouds, whose tones reflected the sand or vegetation of an island behind the horizon. They also observed the currents and winds. They used a kind of map with records of tides and currents in which the islands were represented by shells. The maritime maps allowed them to navigate to distant places by the ocean. And so we continue with our canoes, exploring new lands, new seas. Every day a new place... A new experience. Join us!.
