Let’s clean up our backyard mess with the help of The Home Depot #ad. We went from THIS unusable space to THIS BEAUTIFUL, FUNCTIONAL SPACE! Gearing up for the Fall season means getting organized for game day, fall gatherings, and after-school playtime. The DIY-er and problem solver in me decided to take things to the max and build out a custom shed under our patio. While this was a massive undertaking and took me about 5 days, I remember building out a shed with my dad as a kid. And now that I have a son, I wanted to seem him watch this process unfold. We first cleaned up the space and treated the exterior since we don’t want any pests around here. Then, we saved a little bit of money by cutting 2x4’s in half and all of the lumber to size. Pressure treated 2x4s were used to construct a platform for the shed to rest on and minimize rot. The subflooring was secured with construction adhesive and got a chance to finally use the cordless 21 degree framing nailer from Ryobi. The walls were constructed with sliced 2x4’s and OSB sheathing panels. Once the panels went up and screwed into the base, we added a few more supporting 2x4s all around. Because this will be outside, we added lightweight and easy to cut siding panels stapled into the studs for a nice clean look. I built this shed knowing that I might need to move it out further into the backyard in a few years. That’s why I’ve added a drip edge, exhaust ports, galvanized roofing panels to minimize water leaking in. And if I never need to modify it down the road, I can easily do so. The finishing took on a whole new look thanks to the BEHR PREMIUM PLUS Exterior Paint & Primer. Now are you guys ready to see how this ENTIRE space turned out? It has a whole new vibe, super functional, and the storage is a game changer. Everything I found here is from The Home Depot. I’m not gonna lie, this one I sweated out, but it was SO worth it. I cannot wait to hang out with my son and make some beautiful memories.
