I don’t think I’ve made a collage since I was about 12, but I think today is worth it as I celebrate 10 whole years of officially being a full time photographer. In those 10 years I’ve shot all over the world, photographing some amazing cars and even more amazing people. I’ve shot from motorbikes backwards, upside-down in aeroplanes, up masts and mountains, and stood on many, many roadsides waiting for vehicles. This is a job I never knew existed when I graduated in the summer of 2013, not having a clue what I was going to do next. I thought that being able to be a full time photographer had to be supported financially by a parent or partner, that actually making it a real job was one for dreamers and the odd lucky person. Since doing this, I’ve realised that none of that is the case, although I still get asked fairly regularly if this is my full time job. I’m not saying that I’ve not been lucky - I absolutely have - but I’ve also worked my arse off. The world has changed dramatically since I started doing this and I don’t think photography will be the same, but it opens the door for new challenges and adventures. I’m pretty certain that the next 10 years will be very different to the last 10 years, but it won’t be any less adventurous. Change is a form of adventure in whatever aspect you find it. Embrace it and run with it. Thank you so much for being a part of my last 10 years.
