It was just three years ago I could not perform a single hanging leg raise. My abs were so weak, I had to swing my feet to raise my knees. Now, the first thing I do after stretching is four sets of hanging leg raises, 15 to 20 reps each. However, I have noticed over the past few months performing any exercise has become a little more challenging. Not just abs, but almost my entire workout. When the workout is finished, I'm not just winded, but I am also drained of energy. I'm finding I'm becoming winded sooner, and I have to rest longer and even though the gyms are air conditioned, I am noticing it is not adequate for me. I went to see my primary and my cardiologist and expressed my concern, and after several tests, including sonogram of my heart, they could find nothing unusual. However, both doctors said to me..... well, you are 65 years old now. I did not like that. But the truth is the heat is definitely more challenging when you get older. I can't ignore the symptoms. So my summer workouts are definitely slower. I might have to delete an exercise out of my workout .... because I am exhausted. But this is just part of adapting to age.... and the summer weather. Especially here in south Florida. This is nothing I can't work around.....just like all the other adaptations and changes. And listen to your body.
