“But why don’t they just give an adjustment?” I’ve heard this so many times over the years and I have said it myself! Why not just give an adjustment. Even IN THE ROOM. And many times they do! EVEN WITH SELF TAPES. But here’s the thing—-if you are running on a super tight schedule (which most casting has been for a while as budgets/time is slashed) and you have multiple actors who were better and didn’t need the adjustment they will just go with the actor who made the better choices for that role. It doesn’t necessarily mean the actor is a better actor but they WERE in that moment for that role. So that’s why. And you would do the same. If someone is more proficient at that moment it was THEIRS. This is LIFE. You could have two great dates and one person could just be having a bad day and so you gravitate towards the other person! It doesn’t mean they both weren’t great people! One was just not having the best day. LEARN FROM AUDITIONS AND THEN LET AUDITIONS GO. PERIOD. NO FEEDBACK IS FEEDBACK. If you wonder about your audition take it to a trusted person and have them watch and say can we work on this one so I can see how to improve. Otherwise always do your ritual to let go of the audition and ON TO THE NEXT BABYYYYY! .
