Looking for ways to improve your baby’s feeding? 👇🏼 👇🏽 👇🏾 👇🏿 Try baby facial massage! 💆🏽💕 Facial massage can help to: ↗️stimulate the nerves that are important for feeding. ⬇️reduce tension, which can make feeding more comfortable and fluid. ⬆️increase muscle tone in the face and neck, which can make it easier for babies to coordinate suck-swallow-breathe. ⬆️improve circulation and the movement of lymph fluid, which can help to deliver nutrients to the baby’s brain and body. Facial massage is wonderful for ✨all babies ✨ but it’s especially beneficial for babies who are preparing for or have undergone a tongue tie release. Tongue/lip/buccal ties can make it difficult for babies to breastfeed/bodyfeed or bottle feed, and facial massage can help to reduce the associated barriers to optimal feeding! Try some of these simple facial massage techniques 🐠👂🏾…you can even use a little olive oil or coconut oil if you’d like! Although the baby pictured had fallen asleep, baby facial massage is best when baby is awake so they can interact with you! Baby should never be hungry or agitated when doing this. You can do facial massage for a few minutes at a time, several times a day. Besides the benefits for feeding, it’s a great way to bond with your baby, especially for non-lactating partners or caregivers!
