I was teaching a Metta (lovingkindness) retreat this past week when I heard the news that InsightLA was financially insolvent. My stomach dropped. It felt like hearing that a family member was dying in the ICU. Instantly, my mother instincts kicked in. How is the board of directors going to take care of everyone who depends on InsightLA? The teachers, the beloved community of practitioners? How to support those who are losing their jobs, all of us affected by this catastrophe? My mind started racing. A nightmare was unfolding in real time.   Three years ago when I turned 75. I stepped back from organizational and admin work at InsightLA, but continued to teach. The non-profit was in good financial shape. I was told recently that the organization was facing increasingly serious challenges, but everyone thought there would be a longer runway before the crash. At this point, I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I’ll to continue to share with all of you because InsightLA was never mine. It was ours, and our hearts break together. I love and care for all of you deeply. #metta #lovingkindness #insight #meditation #community #dharma #buddhism
