Why do we try to convince ourselves: people are good and the world is beautiful? When we know that most humans are emotionally and intellectually challenged, that the world is full of garbage that we filled it with, and that life is a series of struggles in spite of the good times! And why do we want the ones we love to think: evil doesn't get to the good ones, and the bad ones always get their punishment, if this only brings more disappointment? But what's more inexplicable: those who thought their lives would be as fun as other people's misrepresented (non)reality, and then realize how life often sucks, join the crowd, continuing to claim that perfect happiness exists. "If I get rid of the harmful patterns and expectations that I inherited from my parents, then..." - No. "If I get accepted to the university, there I will..." - No. "If I find a partner who will finally..." - No. "If I become successful and recognized in my work, then..." - No. And not when we get older, not when we move countries, not even when we go to therapy. No, no, no, it won't be all good, ever. And no, there won't be a perfect happy ending either. If there's anything I've learned, it's this: it doesn't matter what job we do, how many friends we have, whether we're married, single, have or not have kids, religious, secular, gay, straight, we'll have our share in suffering. As long as we live. Of course, in joy too - but that we know already from the overly optimistic hashtags, right? I don’t ask anyone to be negative - I simply encourage us, to be real. To dare to talk about our pain - with as much enthusiasm as we advertise how successful we are, and how amazing everything is. Anyone can say: “this is no longer the Kristóf whose posts I was waiting for", they can think that I'm in a bad mood, I'm depressed or I'm having a nervous breakdown. But those people measure my statement with a standard that I prefer to let go of. The world holds enough difficulties without us trying to turn it into something it will never be.
