“I deeply feel for what is happening to my people and my home. This is a sensitive time for all of us here in Hawaii, yet I wanted to make this post to give a little more background and context on what has happened to this land and to the people that have lived here for generations. ~ There is so much more that I would like to speak on, because I wanted to keep it specific to West Maui I only talked briefly about Pioneer Mill and their history. I was also motivated by all the posts I’ve been seeing as well, so I wanted to throw in a little bit of myself in there. ~ The grief is thick, I’m neck deep in mourning yet still finding the time to pray for our people and our home. Making this post was a moment of relief for me to put my focus elsewhere for a short time. I want to create more and write more as the days and nights come. ~ I’m grateful for the community that has shown up, so many common, ordinary people doing extraordinary things, heroes have risen from the ashes. So heart felt and immense, I feel like I’m not doing enough. ~ I’m proud to see my friends and relatives who are able to continue on while they have lost everything, even still being there for others.
