Apologies for more swimwear spam, but I wanted to draw attention to this little swimsuit, because it has the sweetest story attached to it. Years ago, maybe 5 or 6, I stumbled across a little vintage shop whilst visiting Bruton in Somerset. I remember buying what is still one of my favourite blouses from the lovely lady who owned it. She also had a little swimsuit hanging in the window, but I couldn’t afford both at the time. I always regretted not buying it. This summer, I revisited Bruton, primarily to go to @hauserandwirth, but I had to see if the little shop was still there. It was! But had moved over to the other side of the street. I excitedly went in, and immediately struck up a conversation with Zoe the lovely owner. I told her about the blouse, and the swimsuit I never bought. She responded with a ‘wait a minute… ‘. As she rummaged beneath her desk, ‘was it this one”? She exclaimed, holding the very same little blue swimsuit!!! I was gobsmacked. ‘It’s yours, she said, “you were meant to have it” and kindly handed it to me. I felt like I’d won the lottery, but also taken back by her kindness. This is now a treasured piece, and after all those years, it has come home with me.
