While I was in hospital after Amara was born, the midwives told me I would be a pro at breastfeeding because it was my third time. I went into it so confident because of my two previous experiences being successful. But when we got home I realised something wasn’t right, I woke Isaac one night in tears that I couldn’t go on. Every latch would make my toes curl and eyes water.I just knew this wasn’t right! I got onto the home visit midwives the next day and we realised it was a latching issue, once this was corrected and I was given some shields to help my healing we were off! Amara is now 5 months old and I am soaking in every minute of our feeding journey. It might not be as quiet as it was with my previous children and there are often many feeds on the go.
