Im shocked! I got to the airport 2 hours early thinking this process would be stressful but we were at our terminal in 25 mins and it was stress free! BOOKING PROCESS: I booked my flight through delta and inquired about a pet through their text messaging service. They asked a few questions like pet Breed, Age, Kennel’s type, Kennel dimensions, & Kennel’s weight. The cost was $95 one way and it’s paid at the airport during check in. So the total was $190 for a roundtrip paid separately at arrival & departure. CHECK IN: Check was super easy & quick! I checked in at the special request counter right across from normal check in lines. The carrier counts as a carry on so i checked my luggage. The cost was $30 for my checked bag and $95 for the pet fee one way. They weighed her in her carrier and gave me a green ticket to add to her carrier. BOARDING/FLYING: We walked in as normal. Your pet does have to be inside the carrier at all times on the plane. They go under the seat in front of you. Our plane was small and tight so she’s didn’t fit however it wasn’t a problem. She was quiet the whole time and took naps. Sometimes she’d want to pop out but I’d keep her calm by rubbing her head. Our flight was 1.5 hours. HOW AMEX PLATIMUM CARD COVERS THE PET FEE: The platinum American Express card comes with a ton of travel benefits. One is a $200 airline travel credit. You will need to select a airline through your account in advance to traveling. I selected delta and paid the pet fees at the airport with my Amex platinum card. Two days later the fees were credited back to me! I love how simple the process is!
