Improvisation... exploration... or conversation?✨️ There is special magic when I haven't touched a particular drum in a while. I stop worrying about the stage and lights and camera. The drum whispers little secrets, and I find myself, engrossed in a private conversation. I am cut off from the world. I whisper softly back. No one else can hear. It has something to say after all that time apart. It likes to talk about the news, the weather, its own weathering, and mine. We share how we changed, how we grew. How we aged. We play, we bounce off of each other, fingers and curiosities. Tones ring and remain a little differently. Not worse, not better, not the same as before.
