Motorola V872 – China exclusive QQ mobile   It’s the year 2004 #pastfuturetechnology.   The Flipside Story often features phones from other parts of Asia, and today we’re taking a closer look at the wonderful Motorola V872. This stunner of a phone is the successor to the V780, which in and of itself was the GSM release the CDMA MS230 which was only released in South Korea.   At just 90g the phone is light and comparable in size and specs to its siblings the V303 and V690. The stunning design of this handset is rather unique. Apart from its Korean sibling and predecessor, this handset is the only one in its era to feature such a sleek and refined design. Indeed, many of the Korean releases featured exclusive designs that were never exported to other parts of Asia or the West.   Spec wise, the V872 is a mix of the V690 and V303. It utilises a similar framework to the V690 which is obvious in its light weight of 90g and the 128 x 160px LCD. The OLED is borrowed from the V303 as is the software. The interface however has been customised to Tencent’s QQ services and features the iconic penguin and QQ services.
